I started collecting Halloween masks about 6 years ago. I typically had them mounted on my walls, stuffed with newspaper. When I took some of them down to change the display this year I noticed that many of them are dry, stiff, crumbling and/or cracked. This didn't bother me with some of the cheaper masks but one of my favorites is starting to show similar signs. Is there anyway to alleviate this dryness in the material, which I suspect is latex for all of them. Also, is there a good way to prevent this from happening while they are on display. It seems selective. My oldest mask must be 10-14 years old and has no dryness at all, but newer ones, less then a few years old are all but ruined. What is the best ways to prevent or repair dry cracked damage on Halloween masks?
