oh my god I know what you are talking about. I used to have a trunk full of halloween stuff and when I would open it, the smell would just seep out and it was so strong. I love that smell. Sometimes I will smell random smells that remind me of random things, and I will always be like ';I smell halloween'; ';i smell christmas'; ';i smell easter';Why do halloween mask and halloween accesories have a distinctive smell to them?
Distinct or not, it's highly toxic plastic. Some ooze out more formaldehyde and other chemicals, than other types of plastic.
It came out in the news now that plastic makes girls mature faster, and boys, well, be girls faster too. It's the artificial Female hormone that plastic exudes. They now recommend that glass bottles be used, for babies instead of plastic, and using a R. Osmosis machine instead of bottled water, for that reason. There are also a host of other diseases that these plastics cause.
Some masks are made of vinyl and some are made of latex. I'm sure there are are others made of other things but I'd say vinyl and latex are the popular ones. Vinyl masks reminds me of shower curtains...you know that new shower curtain smell? No good...latex smells like balloons...or...sometimes..condoms. Yeah.
Sometimes also powder is sprinkled on latex to keep it dry and to help it last longer. So could be smelling the powder.
That's a good question. Those pumpkins that hold the candy to me have a distinct smell. A smell I remember from being a little kid that reminds me of halloween trick or treating every time. It's got to be something in the plastic or paint.
